Borneo

Located on the equator, Borneo is a large island consisting of three countries; Brunei, Indonesia and East Malaysia.

Borneo is known for its biodiversity; there is a bewildering number of plant species and abundant wildlife unique to the island, both on land and in the sea. Within the network of national parks, you will find unique flora and fauna, dense rainforest, giant caves and raging rivers.

Borneo encompasses a vast mix of cultural diversity, with more than 60 different tribes and races.

LANGUAGE -  Bahasa Malaysia and Bahasa Indonesia are the two official national languages, however, Mandarin and English are also widely spoken.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS -  Passports must be valid for six months beyond the length of stay. Visas are not
required for New Zealand passport holders who stay less than 30 days.

KOTA KINABALU

 Formerly known as Jesselton, Kota Kinabalu is the capital city of the East Malaysian state of Sabah. As the main entry point for Borneo, Kota Kinabalu is fast becoming a major city bustling with life. However, it also offers serenity with the national park at Mt. Kinabalu and its stunning sunsets over the sea.

MULU

Mulu is home to Mulu National Park, one of the most diverse national parks in the world, featuring impressive
caves, deep gorges, crystal clear rivers, limestone peaks, rainforests and an abundance of wildlife. It is an excellent park for trekking and offers numerous easy trails.

KUCHING

Kuching is the capital of the East Malaysian state of Sarawak; a culturally rich city boasting a long riverfront.
Known as the gateway to the jungle and sea, this city has a relaxing feel, yet is still a modern and progressive city.
