In Cambodia, the magnificent temples of Angkor will astound you; they are amongst the world’s most incredible and long-lasting architectural achievements. Learn about the remarkable yet emotional past of Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh.

Travel to Vietnam where the fast-paced and lively city of Saigon will fascinate you. Relax in the Mekong Delta as you cruise its canals. Visit the charming Old Town of Hoi An and drive over the breathtaking Hai Van Pass to imperial Hue. You will adore Hanoi; it is a richly historic city known as the ‘Paris of the Orient’. End your tour in the UNESCO World Heritage listed Halong Bay, cruising around the magnificent limestone islets.

This tour captures not only the history of these incredible lands but the tremendous spirit of their people.

TOUR ITINERARY

DAYS 1-2: NEW ZEALAND TO SIEM REAP

Fly with overnight with Singapore Airlines to Siem Reap for a three-night stay.

DAY 3: SIEM REAP

Drive to the ancient city of Angkor Thom. Start at the South Gate and continue on to the Bayon, Elephant Terrace and Terrace of the Leper King. In the afternoon visit the magnificent Angkor Wat.

DAY 4: SIEM REAP

Explore the temples of Banteay Srei, Ta Prohm and Sreah Srang. Later this afternoon climb to the summit of Pre Rup for a spectacular view of the surrounding landscape and the sunset.

DAY 5: SIEM REAP TO PHNOM PENH

Fly to Phnom Penh today where you explore the Royal Palace and the majestic Silver Pagoda to see the Emerald Buddha. Later, visit the National Museum and Tuol Sleng Museum of Genocidal Crimes.

DAY 6: PHNOM PENH TO SAIGON

This morning you will visit Wat Phnom, from which the city got its name. Bid farewell to Cambodia and fly to Saigon, Vietnam. This afternoon visit Ben Thanh Market.

DAY 7: SAIGON

Visit the Notre Dame Cathedral and Central Post Office this morning to view the French colonial architecture. Learn more about the American War in Vietnam with a visit to the Reunification Palace and War Remnants Museum. Later, drive to Cholon (Chinatown) where you will see Thien Hau Pagoda.

DAY 8: SAIGON - MEKONG DELTA

Travel to Ben Tre in the Mekong Delta today. Explore the river by boat, passing stilt houses and fish farms. Paddle through palm-lined canals on sampans and walk through villages, where you can sample local tea. Visit Vinh Trang Pagoda before returning to Saigon this afternoon.

DAY 9: SAIGON - TAY NINH & CU CHI

Visit Tay Ninh this morning to experience the midday service at the head temple of the unique Cao Dai religion. Later you will explore the Cu Chi Tunnels led by a War Veteran who lived in the tunnels for years.

DAY 10: SAIGON TO HOI AN

Fly to Danang where you will visit Marble Mountains before continuing on to the UNESCO World Heritage listed town of Hoi An. The remainder of the afternoon is free at your leisure.

DAY 11: HOI AN

Tour Hoi An by foot this morning, visiting an old merchant’s home, the Japanese Covered Bridge, Hoi An Market and a local Chinese temple. This afternoon you may like to visit the tailors or soak up the charming atmosphere of Hoi An at one of the many riverside cafés.

DAY 12: HOI AN TO HUE

Drive over the scenic Hai Van Pass to Hue. This afternoon you will take a cyclo to the Imperial Citadel and the Forbidden Purple City. Visit Thien Mu Pagoda and cruise along the Perfume River.

DAY 13: HUE TO HANOI

Visit the UNESCO World Heritage listed Royal Tomb of Minh Mang. Fly to Hanoi and watch
a performance of the famous Water Puppets this evening.

DAY 14: HANOI TO HALONG BAY

Today you will travel to Halong Bay and commence an overnight cruise on a junk boat. Relax as you cruise the emerald waters around the stunning limestone islets of the Gulf of Tonkin and watch the sun set over the bay.

DAY 15: HALONG BAY TO HANOI

Continue cruising around the bay this morning. After brunch onboard you will drive back to Hanoi, where the remainder of the afternoon is free at your leisure.

DAY 16: HANOI

Visit Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum (closed Sep-Dec), One Pillar Pagoda, Humble House on Stilts and the Temple of Literature. Your tour concludes on your return to the hotel. Please note that no meals are included this evening.

DAY 17: DEPART HANOI

This morning will be at leisure until you are transferred to Hanoi airport to board your overnight flight to New Zealand.

DAY 18: ARRIVE NEW ZEALAND

Arrive home this morning.
