Be amazed at sites such as Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City in Beijing. An exciting walk along the Great Wall is an experience that you will cherish. In the ancient city of Xian you will visit the life-size Terracotta Warriors. Explore the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai, which you will find equally as captivating! Cruise down the Yangtze River taking in the stunning landscape of dramatic gorges and majestic peaks. Travel to Guilin, one of China’s greatest areas of natural beauty.

End your journey in the amazing city of Hong Kong. The city offers a sprawling skyline and a beautiful natural harbour; it is a powerhouse of Chinese commercial activity where the shopping is not to be missed.

TOUR ITINERARY

DAYS 1-2: AUCKLAND TO BEIJING

Fly overnight with Cathay Pacific to Beijing for a three-night stay.

Due to flight schedules you will have an overnight stopover in Hong Kong. Please note that no meals are included in Hong Kong.

DAY 3: BEIJING

Stroll through Tiananmen Square, passing Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum before walking through the treasure-filled Forbidden City. This afternoon visit the Temple of Heaven and enjoy a rickshaw ride through the traditional
Hutong area. For dinner this evening sample the local delicacy, ‘Peking Duck’.

DAY 4: BEIJING

An often quoted saying in Beijing goes ‘you have not been to China until you have climbed the Great Wall’. Walk along the wall, then visit the exquisite Summer Palace. Watch an acrobatic show this evening.

DAY 5: BEIJING TO XIAN

Fly to Xian this morning. Upon arrival visit the Shaanxi Provincial Museum. This evening you will feast on a traditional Shui Jiao Dumpling banquet, whilst enjoying a performance of music and dance from the Tang Dynasty.

DAY 6: XIAN

Today you will see the life-size Terracotta Warriors. You will also visit the ancient City Wall before wandering through the lively Muslim Quarter and the Islamic food markets.

DAY 7: XIAN TO WUHAN - YANGTZE RIVER

Fly to Wuhan this morning. Upon arrival you will be transferred by coach (approximately 4-5 hours) to Yichang to board your cruise for the next four nights.

DAY 8: YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE

Tour the Three Gorges Dam before cruising along the Yangtze River.

DAYS 9-10: YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE

Journey past some of the most beautiful scenery in China and take shore excursions to explore the history and landscape of thetributary streams.

DAY 11: CHONGQING TO GUILIN

Disembark your cruise in Chongqing this morning and visit the Panda House at Chongqing Zoo. Later you will fly to Guilin.

DAY 12: GUILIN TO YANGSHUO

Cruise along the Li River to the town of Yangshuo. Spend the evening walking the cobblestone streets or relax in a street side café and absorb the colourful atmosphere.

DAY 13: YANGSHUO TO GUILIN

Enjoy a morning stroll to the local markets before returning to Guilin. Upon arrival this afternoon see the stunning Reed Flute Caves. This evening you will watch a display of traditional cormorant fishing.

DAY 14: GUILIN TO SHANGHAI

Fly to Shanghai, where upon arrival you will visit Shanghai Museum and wander the surrounds of the neighbouring People’s Square.

DAY 15: SHANGHAI

Continue your tour of this exciting city today as you visit the Yu Gardens and the Old Town. Stroll along the Bund and view the Pudong and Xintiandi areas. Enjoy a cruise along the Huangpu River this evening.

DAY 16: SHANGHAI TO HONG KONG

Fly to Hong Kong for a three-night stay. Enjoy the remainder of the afternoon free at your leisure. (Breakfast only included).

DAY 17: HONG KONG

Enjoy a tour of Hong Kong Island today, including Victoria Peak and Stanley Market. Later you will visit the Aberdeen Fishing Village. (Breakfast only included).

DAY 18: HONG KONG

Take a ferry ride through Victoria Harbour to Lantau Island. Visit Cheung Sha Beach, Tai O Fishing Village and the Giant Buddha before taking the Skyrail cable car down the mountain. Enjoy dinner at the top of Victoria
Peak. (Breakfast and dinner included).

DAY 19: DEPART HONG KONG

Enjoy a tour of the ‘Land Between’, including a visit to the Yuen Yuen Institute. Take in the view from Tai Mo Shan Mountain and Luk Keng Road Lookout and visit Sam Mum Tsai Fishing Zone. The afternoon is free at your
leisure before you are transferred to Hong Kong airport to board your overnight flight to Auckland. (Breakfast only included).

DAY 20: ARRIVE AUCKLAND

Arrive home this morning.

This tour departs from Auckland only, due to flight schedules. Passengers from other cities must make their own way to/from Auckland to join this tour, at their own expense.

Some departure dates may utilise a vessel from the American Victoria Cruises and therefore an additional tipping amount of approximately US$22.50 per person, is payable on board.
