Grand Yangtze

The Yangtze River is immense and is the lifeblood of China. Over 6000km long, it is the largest and longest river in China. This amazing river forms the backbone to this most wonderful tour. Over eight nights you will cruise down this magnificent river on board the 5 star MV Victoria Prince, the flagship of the Victoria Cruise boats – and the leader in Yangtze cruising. The highlight for many will be viewing the stunning river landscapes; dramatic gorges, majestic peaks and ancient temples from your own private balcony. Shore excursions will take you to sites such as Nanjing,  Mt. Huang (Yellow Mountain) and Wuhan.

This special journey goes beyond the Yangtze River. You will visit the ancient sites of Xian, see the adorable Giant pandas in Chengdu and be captivated by the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai.  Our tour concludes in Beijing with an opportunity to enjoy its wonders and maybe reflect on your unforgettable and truly diverse Chinese experience.

TOUR ITINERARY

Days 1-2: New Zealand to Shanghai

Begin our Wendy Wu Tours group holiday to China. Travel on an overnight flight with Singapore Airlines to Shanghai. Upon arrival we will be met and transferred to our hotel for the next 2 nights.

Day 3: Shanghai

Visit the Shanghai Museum, Yu Garden, Old Town, the Famous Bund and Xintiandi. This evening enjoy a cruise on the Huangpu River.

Day 4: Shanghai to Yangtze River Cruise

Enjoy the morning at leisure before transferring to the Victoria Prince cruise ship sailing from Shanghai to Chongqing over the next 8 nights.

Day 5: Yangtze River Cruise - Nanjing

Full day tour of Nanjing before continuing your cruise upstream along the Yangtze River.

Day 6: Yangtze River Cruise - Mt Huang

Today we visit Mt Huang (Yellow Mountain).

Day 7: Yangtze River Cruise - Wuhan

Cruise to Wuhan and visit the Hubei Provisional Museum and other sites.

Days 8-9: Yangtze River Cruise

Continue cruising upstream towards Yichang. The following day upon arrival in Yichang, visit the Three Gorges Dam project site and then sail through the Gezhou Dam.

Day 10: Yangtze River Cruise - Daning River Small Gorges

Sail through Wu Gorge and take an excursion to the Daning River Small Gorges.

Day 11: Yangtze River Cruise - Fengdu

Arrive early at Fengdu and visit the ‘Ghost City’.

Day 12: Chongqing to Chengdu

Disembark in Chongqing this morning and transfer to Chengdu for an overnight stay. Our dinner tonight will be a sumptuous Sichuan Banquet.

Days 13-14: Chengdu to Xian

Visit the famous Panda Reserve, before flying to Xian for 2 nights. Enjoy a sumptuous evening sumptuous Shui Jiao Banquet. The following day visit the Terracotta Warriors and the Ancient City Wall. Enjoy an evening performance of Tang Dynasty Dancing.

Day 15: Xian/Beijing

Fly to Beijing for the next 3 nights. Later visit the unique Temple of Heaven and in the evening enjoy a sample of the local delicacy ‘Peking Duck’.

Days 16-17: Beijing

Our first day of sightseeing includes a stroll through the famous Tiananmen Square, the world’s largest public square, past Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum and a visit to the treasure filled Forbidden City. Our evening entertainment will be a fascinating Chinese Acrobatic Show. On the following day enjoy an exciting walk on the Great Wall and a visit to the landscaped beauty of the Summer Palace.

Days 18-19: Beijing to New Zealand

Transfer to the airport for our flight to New Zealand, arriving home the following morning.
