A China Experience

For a brief introduction to China or for visitors with limited time available, our China Experience tour is the perfect choice as it covers the essentials of China in one concise and memorable programme. Visiting such icons as the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai, the Terracotta Warriors in Xian as well as the Great Wall and Forbidden City in Beijing, we also have time to explore the charming, ancient canal town of Wuzhen.

TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: New Zealand to Shanghai

Begin our Wendy Wu Tours group holiday to China. Travel with Singapore Airlines to Shanghai. Upon arrival we will transfer to our hotel for 3 nights. In the evening enjoy a welcome banquet of traditional Shanghai cuisine.

Day 2: Shanghai - Wuzhen

Travel by coach to the picturesque canal town of Wuzhen. Discover its many wonders before returning to Shanghai.

Day 3: Shanghai

Experience this exciting city visiting the beautiful Yu Garden and the Old Town. After lunch we visit Shanghai Museum, the famous Bund, explore the restored area of Xintiandi with its 1920’s architectural style ‘shikumen’ buildings and indulge in some shopping along Nanjing Road. As our evening entertainment enjoy a panoramic cruise on the Huangpu River.

Day 4: Shanghai to Xian

Fly to Xian for a 2 night stay. Dinner tonight will be a sumptuous Shui Jiao Banquet, a specialty of the region.

Day 5: Xian

Today we will view the most important archaeological discovery of the 20th Century, the life-size Terracotta Warriors and the Ancient City Wall, one of the few remaining in all of China. End the day with a performance of Tang Dynasty Dancing.

Day 6: Xian to Beijing

Visit the Little Wild Goose Pagoda, the renowned Shaanxi Museum and stroll through the lively Muslim Quarter, where we will visit the Great Mosque and explore the Islamic food markets before flying to Beijing for 3 nights. This afternoon visit the Temple of Heaven and this evening enjoy a sample of the local delicacy ‘Peking Duck’.

Day 7: Beijing

Beijing is a city full of wonders. Our sightseeing today includes a stroll along famous Tiananmen Square, past Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum and a visit to the treasure filled Forbidden City. Our evening entertainment will be a fascinating Chinese Acrobatic Show.

Day 8: Beijing

Today enjoy an exciting walk on the Great Wall, a highlight of any trip to China as well as a tour of the exquisite Summer Palace.

Day 9: Depart Beijing

Early transfer to the airport to board our return flight to New Zealand.  (**Option to stay an extra night in Beijing at own cost and enjoy a shopping spree at the famous copy markets this monring**)

Day 10: Arrive New Zealand

Arrive home this morning.
