TOUR ITINERARY

Wendy Wu Tours Review:

Many thanks for an absolutely wonderful tour of your country, China. We were on the 10 day tour of Shanghai, Xian and Beijing. We had the greatest time, and learned so much of your culture and heritage, all brilliantly inspired and presented by Liu Zheng, or known as Jane, who was an absolute joy and a fount of knowledge. Congratulations on a great business and magnificent staff like Jane.

You will have plenty of time to explore this charming town at a leisurely walking pace before returning to Shanghai later this afternoon. Your dinner this evening will be a banquet of traditional Shanghai cuisine.

Enjoy a full-day tour to explore this cosmopolitan city. Visit the Yu Gardens, the Old Town, Shanghai Museum and the Xintiandi area, with its 1920s-style 'shikumen' buildings unique to Shanghai. Stroll along the famous Bund to see its collection of neoclassical
buildings and indulge in some shopping along Nanjing Road. Enjoy a cruise along the stunning Huangpu River this evening.

Fly to the former imperial capital city of Xian. This evening you will feast on a traditional
Shui Jiao Dumpling banquet, a specialty of the region, whilst enjoying a performance of music and dance from the Tang Dynasty.

DAY 6: XIAN

Today you will explore one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th Century, the life-size Terracotta Warriors. Later this afternoon visit the ancient City Wall, one of the best preserved in all of China.

DAY 9: BEIJING

An often quoted saying in Beijing goes ‘you have not been to China until you have climbed the Great Wall’. Built over 2,000 years ago, it stretches all the way from the Shanhaiguan Pass on the east coast to the Gobi Desert in the west, more than 5,000km away. Walk along the wall, admire the panoramic views and reflect on the enormity of the material and labour required for its construction. It is estimated that one million people were used at different stages during the construction period and that thousands died building it. This afternoon you will wander through the Summer Palace, admiring the landscaped beauty. Sample the local delicacy, ‘Peking Duck’, as your farewell dinner this evening.

DAY 10: DEPART BEIJING

This morning you are transferred to Beijing airport to board your overnight flight to New
Zealand.

DAY 11: ARRIVE NEW ZEALAND
