Begin in the urban metropolis that is Shanghai; a city that fuses a mix of Eastern and Western influences and has so much to offer. In the capital, Beijing, you will be enthralled by the historic significance of its extraordinary sites. The Yangtze River will amaze you with its backdrop of misty, beautiful mountains. You will adore Guilin, one of the most beautiful cities in China. Wander the cobblestone streets of Lijiang and relax by the Black Dragon Pool.

This tour will capture your imagination, leave you feeling in touch with China’s incredible history and allow you to mingle with its friendly people.

TOUR ITINERARY

DAYS 1-2: NEW ZEALAND TO SHANGHAI

Fly overnight with Singapore Airlines to Shanghai for a two-night stay. Upon arrival you will explore the Pudong area.  Dinner will be a banquet of traditional Shanghai cuisine.

DAY 3: SHANGHAI

Today you will visit Shanghai Museum, the Yu Gardens, the Silk Museum, the Old Town, stroll along the famous Bund and explore the Xintiandi area. Enjoy a cruise along the stunning Huangpu River this evening.

DAY 4: SHANGHAI TO BEIJING

Fly to Beijing this morning where you will visit the exquisite Summer Palace. This evening sample the local delicacy,  'Peking Duck’.

DAY 5: BEIJING

Take an exciting walk along the Great Wall and visit the 15th-century Temple of Heaven. This evening you will watch an acrobatic show.

DAY 6: BEIJING

Stroll through Tiananmen Square, passing Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum, followed by a visit to the 15th-century Forbidden City.

DAY 7: BEIJING TO XIAN

This morning you will have some time for shopping at the copy markets before boarding your overnight sleeper train to Xian.

DAY 8: XIAN

Upon arrival in Xian this morning you will visit the Little Wild Goose Pagoda, the fascinating Shaanxi Provincial Museum, walk through the Muslim Quarter and explore the Islamic food markets. This evening you will feast on a Shui Jiao Dumpling banquet whilst enjoying a traditional Tang Dynasty dance performance.

DAY 9: XIAN

This morning visit one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th Century, the life-size Terracotta Warriors. You will also visit the ancient City Wall, one of the best preserved in all of China.

DAY 10: XIAN TO WUHAN - YANGTZE RIVER

Fly to Wuhan this morning and transfer (approximately 4-5 hours) to Yichang, the boarding point of your Yangtze River cruise for the next four nights.

DAYS 11-13: YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE

Enjoy a tour to the Three Gorges Dam before cruising along the mighty Yangtze River. You will pass some of the most beautiful scenery in China and take shore excursions to explore the fascinating history and tranquil landscapes of the tributaries.

DAY 14: CHONGQING TO GUILIN

Disembark your cruise in Chongqing and visit the Panda House at Chongqing Zoo. Later you will fly to Guilin.

DAY 15: GUILIN

Cruise along the Li River today as you immerse yourself in the breathtaking views of this unique landscape.

DAY 16: GUILIN TO KUNMING

Visit the Reed Flute Caves and Mt. Diecai this morning before boarding your flight to Kunming. This evening sample 'Across the Bridge Noodles’, a specialty of the region.

DAY 17: KUNMING

Enjoy a full-day tour of the picturesque Stone Forest where massive limestone columns form a vast forest of surreal shapes and images.

DAY 18: KUNMING TO LIJIANG

Fly to Lijiang. Upon arrival wander through the quaint cobblestone streets and around the meandering canals of the Old Quarter. Later this afternoon you will visit the Black Dragon Pool.

DAY 19: LIJIANG

Visit Tiger Leaping Gorge today, one of the deepest gorges in the world.

DAY 20: LIJIANG TO KUNMING

Catch a chairlift to explore one of the meadows of the impressive Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and enjoy the amazing
scenery. Fly to Kunming later this afternoon.

DAY 21: DEPART KUNMING

This morning is free at your leisure before you are transferred to Kunming airport to board your overnight flight to New Zealand.

DAY 22: ARRIVE NEW ZEALAND

Arrive home this morning.
