TOUR ITINERARYDAYS 1-2: NEW ZEALAND TO SHANGHAIFly overnight with Singapore Airlines to Shanghai for a three-night stay. DAY 3: SHANGHAIExplore Shanghai Museum and stroll along the famous Bund today. Feast on traditional Shanghai cuisine for dinner this evening. DAY 4: SHANGHAIEnjoy a tour of Shanghai visiting the Yu Gardens and the Old Town. Cross the great Nanpu Bridge to the Pudong area and explore the Xintiandi area. This evening cruise along the spectacular Huangpu River. DAY 5: SHANGHAI TO GUILINToday you will fly to the city of Guilin for an overnight stay. DAY 6: GUILIN TO YANGSHUORelax on the Li River as you cruise to the town of Yangshuo. DAY 7: YANGSHUO TO GUILINExplore the local markets this morning before returning to Guilin where you will visit the Seven Star Caves. Enjoy a display of traditional cormorant fishing this evening. DAY 8: GUILIN TO XIANVisit Mt. Diecai for a clear view of the surrounding karst landscape before flying to Xian. This evening indulge in a traditional Shui Jiao Dumpling banquet whilst watching a performance of Tang Dynasty dancing. DAY 9: XIANToday you will explore one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th Century, the life-size Terracotta Warriors. You will also visit the ancient City Wall, one of the best preserved in all of China. DAY 10: XIAN TO BEIJINGSee the Little Wild Goose Pagoda today and the Shaanxi Provincial Museum, stroll through the lively Muslim Quarter and explore the Islamic food markets. Afterwards you will fly to Beijing. DAY 11: BEIJINGYour sightseeing today involves a walk through the famous Tiananmen Square, passing Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum, followed by a visit to the Forbidden City. DAY 12: BEIJINGAn often quoted saying in Beijing goes ‘you have not been to China until you have climbed the Great Wall’. Built over 2,000 years ago, it stretches all the way from the Shanhaiguan Pass on the east coast to the Gobi Desert in the west, more than 5,000km away. Walk along the wall, admire the panoramic views and reflect on the enormity of the material and labour required for its construction. Later this afternoon, travel to the 15th-century Temple of Heaven. Your evening entertainment will be an acrobatic show. DAY 13: BEIJINGToday you will embark on a rickshaw tour through the traditional Hutong area and wander through the exquisite Summer Palace. Sample the delicious local specialty, ‘Peking Duck’, at dinner this evening. DAY 14: DEPART BEIJINGThis morning you will have some free time to shop at the copy markets before you are transferred to Beijing airport to board your overnight flight to New Zealand.
