This is a truly magical nation. TOUR ITINERARYDAY 1: AUCKLAND TO BANGKOKFly with Thai Airways International to Bangkok for an overnight stay in an airport hotel. DAY 2: BANGKOK TO LUANG PRABANGToday you will fly to Luang Prabang for a four-night stay. DAY 3: LUANG PRABANGTour the city today by tuk-tuk, visiting Wat Mai, Wat Visoun, Wat Xieng Thong and Wat That. Later, climb Phousi Hill to watch the sunset, followed by a visit to the evening hilltribe market. DAY 4: LUANG PRABANGThis morning you will travel upstream on the Mekong River to the sacred caves of Pak Ou. Enjoy lunch onboard and continue cruising to the villages of Thin Hong and Ban Xang Khong. DAY 5: LUANG PRABANGWitness a Takbat Ceremony and visit the fresh food market this morning. Continue to Wat Sene and the National Museum. This DAY 6: LUANG PRABANG TO PHONESAVANDrive to Phonesavan via Phoukhoun, stopping at Tham Phra Cave and Nong Tang Lake along the way. DAY 7: PHONESAVANThis morning you will visit Site No.1 and No. 2 of the mysterious Plain of Jars. We will also visit villages of a H’mong minority group, the old city of Muang Khoune and the Mines Advisory Group office. DAY 8: PHONESAVAN TO VANG VIENGDrive to Vang Vieng, stopping along the way at Pathang Village. This afternoon visit Tham Chang Cave. DAY 9: VANG VIENG TO VIENTIANEContinue south to Vientiane this morning and visit Thongkhanham Market, Wat Phra Keo, That Luang Stupa, Patuxai Victory DAY 10: VIENTIANE TO KHONG ISLANDFly to Pakse this morning. Upon arrival you will drive to Champassak where you visit the UNESCO World Heritage listed Khmer ruins of Wat Phou. Later, take an elephant ride to Phou Asa Hill and continue on to Khong Island by road. DAY 11: KHONG ISLANDEnjoy a morning boat ride through the Si Phan Don area also known as ‘Four Thousand Islands’ and visit an old French railway station before lunch. This afternoon walk through local villages to the Liphi Waterfalls where you are given a fishing lesson by a local fisherman. DAY 12: KHONG ISLAND TO PAKSE TO UBONDepart Khong Island by boat and drive to Khone Phapheng Waterfalls, the biggest in Southeast Asia. Visit a tea or coffee plantation and continue to the Tad Yuang and Tad Fane waterfalls in the Bolaven Plateau. After lunch, continue to Ubon for an overnight stay. DAY 13: DEPART UBONThis morning you will be transferred to Ubon airport to board your overnight flight to Auckland (via Bangkok). DAY 14: ARRIVE AUCKLANDArrive home this morning. |
