Learn more about the man known as ‘Uncle Ho’ and visit some of Hanoi’s most popular and historic sights in the city’s Ho Chi Minh Quarter. Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum is modelled on Lenin’s, an austere edifice in the centre of Ba Dinh Square – other sights that are now memorials to his name include the Ho Chi Minh Museum and the Humble Stilt House, where Uncle Ho lived after refusing to occupy the grandiose, French built Presidential Palace. The nearby Temple of Literature was built in 1090 and is dedicated to Confucius. Wandering amongst the peaceful courtyards, formal gardens and pavilions is a welcome respite from the city.
