Making a Booking

  • When will my booking be confirmed?

It is important your name appears on your invoice as per your passport and we receive this information and a copy of your passport at  the time of your booking.  Once we receive your deposit, your place on tour will be confirmed. We will also confirm any additional arrangements such as pre and post tour accommodation. This usually takes 3-5 days and can vary depending on the destination and if there are any holiday periods. We will then send you an updated invoice showing your deposit payment, along with Visa Application information (if applicable).

  • Can special requests be arranged?

We will do our best to accommodate your special request. Please advise us of any medical requirements, special meal requests or dietary requirements, special needs, or mobility impairment at time of booking.

  • When will I receive my tour documentation?

2-3 weeks before you travel you will receive your final documentation, including a detailed day-by-day itinerary, hotel list, and pre-departure guide. You should have already received your passport back, complete with the relevant visas if applicable.

  • Are there any health precautions or vaccinations that I need?

We recommend you see your doctor at least six weeks prior to travel for advice and to allow time for any necessary vaccinations. Please remember to take your itinerary with you. Please visit our Travel Health page for more information.

  • What are the luggage restrictions on tour?

All travellers are limited to two items of luggage each; a suitcase with a maximum weight of 20kg and one piece of hand luggage with a maximum weight of 5kgs. Please refer to the tour dossier located on the tour page for further details as well as any specific airline restrictions.

  • How far in advance are flights available to book?

Airlines release their flight schedules approximately 10-11 months prior to the flight date. If you book a tour with a departure date outside of this range, your place on the group tour will be confirmed immediately and once available to us, your flights will be held and a copy of the flight itinerary will be sent to you.

On Tour

  • Do you allow children on your tours?

We allow children 12 years and over on our group tours. We recommend that families with children of any age take advantage of our Private Tour or Tailor-Made tour. This will give you more flexibility while on tour.

  • Will I have a guide?

Group Tours: Every group tour that has 10 or more passengers travelling will be accompanied by a National Escort from the moment you exit the airport, to when you depart. On multi-country tours, a different National Escort is used in each country. Extensions and stopovers are not accompanied by a National Escort; however you will have the benefit of our knowledgeable Local Guides. Transfers and flights to and from optional extension destinations are not escorted.

Private Touring: Private tours are not accompanied by a National Escort, but will be accompanied by knowledgeable local guides in each location.

  • Do you run guarantee departures?

All tours are guaranteed at the listed price operating with a National Escort, providing a minimum of 10 travellers are booked to travel on that departure.

  • Who will be in my group?

Your group will be made up of travellers from diverse backgrounds and will be varied in age. Our groups generally mix well due to a shared interest in travel and eagerness to explore all that the destination has to offer.

  • How fit do I need to be?

We want you to have the best tour experience possible, so you should be in reasonably good health and be able to participate in all activities unaided. Some of our itineraries include difficult conditions which can make physical activities challenging. Each group tour is graded to reflect the level of fitness required to assist you in making the best choice. You can also find detailed information in each Tour Dossier and on the top of each tour page.

  • I am a solo traveller – do I have to pay a single supplement?

Dedicated Solo Departures: We have reserved selected departures on some of our most popular tours exclusively for customers who prefer to share their wonderful holiday experiences with a readymade group of like-minded solo travellers. Enjoy a single room throughout without the extra single supplement, smaller group sizes, and complimentary extras. Find out more here.

Happy to Share: Customers booking to travel solo can choose our ‘Happy to Share’ option, which may enable them to share a twin room with other solo customers of the same gender who also request Happy to Share, thus avoiding the need to pay single room supplements. Note that ‘Happy to Share’ requests can be received when you make your booking with us but will not be confirmed until your final payment due date. If a share partner is found, the Single Supplement will be removed from your booking. If a share partner is not found, the Single Supplement will remain and is payable with your final balance in line with our normal booking conditions. Either way, our Operations Team will contact you around 75 days before departure to let you know whether a share partner has been found or not. We regret that Happy to Share requests cannot be accepted within 75 days of departure. Wendy Wu Tours reserves the right to change or withdraw this arrangement at any time. This supplement covers hotel nights only. Separate supplements may apply to cruise nights. Please contact us for further details.

Single Supplement: On all of our tours, a single room can be guaranteed by paying a single supplement.

  • Will I be travelling with passengers from other countries?

Our passengers generally enjoy the mixture of Australian, New Zealand and British clients on tour. Occasionally we are joined by English speaking passengers from other countries.

  • What is the dress code on your tours?

The dress code while on tour is very relaxed; however please note that clothing covering the arms and legs may be more appropriate when visiting religious buildings. We suggest smart casual attire for the evenings. A packing list will be provided in your final documentation.

  • What should I expect when travelling in Asia or South & Central America?

We plan our tours to ensure that your holiday is safe and trouble free and we are continually working with our local partners to maintain and improve health and safety standards. Overseas travel brings new experiences and varied environments and sometimes this means different safety and hygiene standards to those we are used to in New Zealand. We therefore ask that you take care; pay attention at all times and use your common sense. You are also requested to refer to notices and follow advice from your National Escort or Local Guide.

  • Are there ever closures to attractions/sites outlined in tours?

Attractions may be closed at any given time, often without reasonable notice. Such closures may impact the ability to visit such attractions during your tour. Wendy Wu Tours will do their utmost to provide advance notice in these circumstances, however such closures are out of our control. Alternative touring will be arranged should this occur.

  • Are meals included?

On our Fully Inclusive Classic Group Tours, all meals (excluding beverages) are included unless specifically stated otherwise. Discovering new cuisine is a highlight of travel to Asia and your Local Guide will give you tips on local specialties to try. You will sample a range of local cuisine with occasional western meals, and meals are usually taken at local restaurants. In remote areas, some meals may be basic or repetitive. On Go Beyond tours and our independent Private Tours, some meals are included however we have also included several free evenings, offering flexibility for those who wish to explore local restaurants. Please check your day-by-day tour itinerary for details of which meals are included.

    B = Breakfast, L = Lunch, D = Dinner.
