As well as being the location of Fukuroi City, Shizuoka Prefecture is also home to Japan’s most iconic sight, Mt Fuji. Shizuoka’s Pacific coast has earned the nickname the Japanese Riviera, thanks to its beautiful stretches of easily accessible sand, whilst inland spectacular nature abounds.

The prefecture is perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking, but there is plenty of history and culture too, such as old Tokaido Inns, medieval temples and plenty of museums. Shizuoka is particularly famous for two things: hot springs – there are a lot of lovely onsen here; and green tea.

Half of Japan’s supply is grown here, alongside cuisine staple wasabi. One thing that is a must when visiting Shizuoka, other than paying homage to Fujisan of course, is to eat seafood – it is great here!
