Known as Leninabad from 1936 – 1991 this is Central Asia's oldest cities, dating back 2500 years. It is the second-largest city in Tajikistan and located in the fertile Fergana Valley and was once a major city along the ancient Silk Road.

A relaxing atmosphere, enhanced by the lush parks and beautiful boulevards, some restaurants and cafes line the riverbank.

This city has been home to many famous scientists, writers and musicians while preserving its status as the scientific and cultural centre of Tajikistan. With buildings restored, you can visit the history museum and archaeological museum.

Khujand city is the link connecting Samarkand and Fergana Valley, and you don’t want to miss it if following the Great Silk Road.
