Dazu Rock Carvings

Dazu District, located within the district of Chongqing, is where you can find the UNESCO listed Dazu Rock Carvings. Here, you will find thousands of Buddhist, Taoist and Confucianist idols and symbols carved into the rock faces across 70 sites. Made between the 9th -13th centuries, these rock carvings are some of the best preserved in China.

The rock carvings have remained largely untouched by man-made or war damage, due to their hidden away location on the hillside. Off limits to foreign visitors for many years, be one of the first to view these incredible intricate works of art, depicting a way of life long since vanished.
